2016 Workhouse Arts Center Gala
Saturday, October 1, 6:00pm-11:00pm Workhouse Arts Center • Lorton, Virginia ABOUT THE EVENT The Workhouse Gala is the premier fundraising event for the Workhouse Foundation, bringing together government officials, corporate leaders, distinguished community members, and talented artists to celebrate history and the arts with an evening of art, dining, and dancing held in the Workhouse galleries. This year’s event honors the Workhouse’s history as part of the former DC Correctional Facility. One of the first prisons visited by musical greats, such as: Ella Fitzgerald, Louise Armstrong, Count Bassie, and Frank Sinatra. Today, the performing and visual arts programs make the Workhouse a vibrant organization with regional significance. All proceeds benefit Workhouse arts and education programs, including our work with the Service community; STEM-based programs; and hundreds of performances, exhibits, and classes that serve more than 100,000 individuals each year.
