HISTORY INDIAN CONSTITUTION IS THE SUPREME LAW OF INDIA. §
THE CONSTITUTION WAS ENACTED BY THE CONSTITUTE ASSEMBLY ON 26 NOVEMBER 1949, & CAME INTO EFFECT ON26 JANUARY 1950. §

THE PREAMBLE OF INDIA WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens: JUSTICE, social, economic and political; LIBERTY worship; EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation; IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS Click to edit Master subtitle style CONSTITUTION.

CONSTITUTION ASSEMBLY The Constitution was drafted by the Constituent Assembly, which was elected by the elected members of the provincial assemblies. Sanjay Phakey,Jawaharlal Nehru, C. Rajagopalachari, Rajendra Prasad , Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Kanaiyalal Munshi, Purushottam Mavalankar, Sandipkumar Patel, Dr Ambedkar, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Shyama Mukherjee, Click toPrasad edit Master subtitle style Nalini Ranjan Ghosh, and Balwantrai Mehta were some important figures in the Assembly. DRAFTING
On the 14 August 1947 meeting of the Assembly, a proposal for forming various committees was presented. Such committees included a Committee on Fundamental Rights, the Union Powers Committee and Union Constitution Committee. On 29 August 1947, the Drafting Committee was appointed, with Dr Ambedkar as the Chairman along with six other members assisted by a constitutional advisor.
