This document describes how to check parameters in the TCU, it will be very useful when we want to know configuration, alarm, performance E1 and Ethernet, synchronization status…etc, and of course for troubleshooting purposes.
Checking all "MOAttribute" in the TCU
Using command "getcontainment stn=0" we will get all "MOAttribute" in the TCU and then we will know what parameters which have been set up.
Checking "Bridge" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,Bridge=" it will show operational status of the bridges, in the normal condition have to be "enable".
Checking "E1/T1 Interface" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,E1T1Interface=" it will show operational status and type of Interface. In the normal condition operation status is "enable" it means Port E1/T1 has good connection to the DUG 2G, but if "disable" please check connection to DUG and DUG configuration. Based on ETSI standard, TCU uses type interface "E1".
Checking "Equipment" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,Equipment=0" it will show information about the equipment such as serial number, product code, manufacturing date, etc.
Checking "Ethernet Interface" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,EthernetInterface=" it will show operational status and mode of Port Interface. In the normal condition operation status is "enable" it means Ethernet Port has good connection to the DUW 3G, DUS LTE, transport system (Microwave, GPON, Metro E, etc) but if "disable" please check that connection. We will get MAC Address, Port ID which has been used, Ethernet frame size and current mode Ethernet Port interface (e.g. 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps).
Checking "IP Interface" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,IPInterface=" it will show operational status and IP Address 2G system, both of Abis and OAM. In the normal condition operation status is "enable".
Checking "Routing Table - IP Route" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,RoutingTable=0,IPRoute=" it will show Routing 2G system (NWIE, PGW) and synchronization (NTP/PTP). The Routing IP Address consist destination IP subnet (IP network of NWIE, PGW and NTP/PTP) and next hop IP Address (IP default gateway Router).
Checking "Routing Table - IP Route Sys" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,RoutingTable=0,IPRouteSys=" it will show Routing IP Abis OAM and Default Gateway 2G system. The Routing IP Address consist destination IP subnet (IP network of Abis and OAM) and next hop IP Address (IP default gateway Router).
Checking "Synchronization" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,Synchronization=0" it will show synchronization status (should be synchronized), calibration expired date and calibration status (should be CAL_PROGRESS_? or CAL_ONGOING), but if the calibration status is "CAL_NO_CONNECTION" it means loss of synchronization, please check parameters (IP, Port Number and IP Routing).
Checking "Synchronization – Time Server" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,Synchronization=0,TimeServer=" it will show parameters of synchronization (type NTP/PTP, IP Address, Port Number, Domain Number). Those parameters have to be agreed with data design (ATND).
Checking "TG Transport" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,TGTransport=" it will show parameters of TG Transport such as TG Transport's name, IP Address PGW and PGW link status has to be "up" it means communication between RBS 2G via TCU to PGW is ok, but if "down" service 2G system is down as well, please check IP Address PGW is ok or not (ensure IP Address is correct and ping test result is ok), TG Name has to be same between TCU and PGW, check other alarms such as Ethernet Interface connection, Transport and E1 connection.
Checking "TG Transport – Super Channel" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,TGTransport=,SuperChannel=" it will show operation status of Super Channel has to be "enable" because it means E1 connection between RBS 2G (DUG) and TCU is ok, but if "disable" please check cable E1 connection and DUG configuration. This command also gives information about E1 numbers which have been used.
Checking "Temperature Sensor – Super Channel" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,TempSensor=0" it will show current temperature, low temperature and high temperature which have been happen in the TCU.
Checking "VLAN Group" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,VLANGroup=" it will show operation status of VLAN Group, in the normal condition it should be "enable".
Checking "VLAN Group - VLAN" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0,VLANGroup=,VLAN=" it will show VLAN numbers which have been used in the TCU for both of Ethernet Port Node B and WAN (transport connection).
Checking "Alarm List" in the TCU
Using command "getalarmlist" it will show current alarm list in the TCU, but if has no alarm then it will be blank.
Checking "Date and Time" in the TCU
Using command "gettime" it will show current date and time in the TCU.
Checking "Uptime" in the TCU
Using command "uptime" it will show how long TCU lives.
Checking "Temperature" in the TCU
Using command "gettemperature" it will show temperatures. Alarm high temperature will appear when the values are above of 60 degree Celsius.
Checking "Calibration Date" in the TCU
Using command "caldate" it will show date of calibration. If TCU synchronization (NTP/PTP) is ok, the result should be current date (today).
Checking "Calibration Expired Date" in the TCU
Using command "calexpdate" it will show expired date of calibration. If TCU synchronization (NTP/PTP) is ok, the result should be about 4 months later.
Checking "Calibration Value" in the TCU
Using command "calvalue" it will show value of calibration. If TCU synchronization (NTP/PTP) is ok, the result is valid number (-4000 to +4000). If the number out of the range, usually the TCU calibration has been expired and lose synchronization, it will impact to degrade system 2G performance.
Checking "Ping Test" in the TCU
Using command "ping " it will show ping test result. If the result is not ok please check IP Address and transport connection.
Example: Ping IP Address PGW Floating
Example: Ping IP Address PTP Server
Example: Ping IP Address OSS Server
Example: Ping IP Address Clock Time Server
Checking "Time Server" in the TCU
Using command "timeservertest start" then wait about 30 seconds, continue to command "timeservertest result" it will show quality of TCU synchronization (Time Server connection). The result has to be "good" and packet loss "0 percent", but if we found "bad" and many packets loss please check NTP/PTP connection (ping IP Address Time Server and checking transport).
Checking "MAC Address" in the TCU
Using command "showMACFWTable All" it will show all MAC Address which have been received in the TCU bridging system from all Ethernet interface both from transport system (e.g. Router) and access system (e.g. RBS 3G, RBS LTE, etc). Also we can show MAC Address based on per Ethernet Interface, the command is "showMACFWTable STN=0,EthernetInterface=".
Checking "E1T1 Performance / Counter" in the TCU
Using command "getcounters STN=0,E1T1Interface=" then wait about few seconds and repeat that command. It will show E1 performance per interface connection, the good performance is when the counters have value all "0", if performance is bad (many errors) please check E1 connection (UTP cable, connector RJ45) between TCU to DUG-RBS 2G.
Checking "Ethernet Performance / Counter" in the TCU
Using command "getcounters STN=0,EthernetInterface=" then wait about few seconds and repeat that command. It will show Ethernet performance and data stream per interface connection, the good performance is when the error counters (in/out) have value "0", if performance is bad (many errors) please check Ethernet connection (UTP cable, connector RJ45) between TCU to transport system (e.g. Microwave, GPON, Metro E) and access system (e.g. DUW-RBS 3G, DUS-LTE).
Checking "MO Attribute STN=0" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute STN=0" it will show TCU/STN Name, IP Clock Time Server, IP Wakeup Destination OSS and Software Revision.
Checking "Revision" in the TCU
Using command "rev" it will show Software Revision both of primary and secondary (backup), it's much better if those software same level.
Checking "All Configurations" in the TCU
Using command "getmoattribute" it will show all configurations in the TCU.
