Anesthesia is divided into three major sections:
Local anesthesia.
Relieve pain at the incision area will be done surgically
Exp: Circumcision (Sunat), stitch a little wound, etc.
Regional anesthesia.
Giving local anesthetic for pain relief which covers most of the body without losing awareness.
Exp: SC (sectio caesarea), hernia surgery, appendectomy, etc.
General anesthesia.
Giving drug of anesthesia to eliminate pain throughout the body and removes the awareness of patients who will do surgery.
In this way anesthesia is usually combined with a maintenance anesthetic gases are given through the anesthesia machine.
Exp: Nerve surgery, craniotomy, fracture mandible, tonsillectomy, etc.
I will explain about general anesthesia and I prefer to describe the instruments that need to be prepared to doing the action of general anesthesia.
The following are the instruments that need to doing general anesthesia:
Anesthesia instruments usually often abbreviated to STATICS, there are:
S:
Syringe, (To fixation ETT with giving air in cuff of ETT)

Stetoscope, (usually used to listen the air in the lungs)
Picture 2. Stetoscope
Laringoscope, (to help open the mouth so ett easily inserted into the trachea)

T (Tube Air Way)
Endotracheal tube (ETT), (to give air and inhaled anesthetics from anesthesia machine). (Cuff)
Picture 4. Endotracheal Tube (ETT)
A (Air way)
Nasofharingeal Tube air way (Giving the slit breath through the nose)
Picture 5. Nasofharingeal Tube Air Way
Orofharingeal air way (Giving the slit breath through the mouth. It is also useful so that when the patient was suddenly aware, not bitten the ett.)

T:Tape
Plaster (to fixation ETT)
I (Introducer)
Mandrin/Stilet (to help ett be inflexible when inserted into the trachea)

C (Connector)
To connect ETT to the anesthesia machine.
Conector Facemask

S (Suction)
To suck mucus when extubation (repeal ETT in the trachea).
