the maps Stardew Valley is a large area comprised of smaller areas, Pelican Town, Cindersap Forest, the Beach, the Mountains, and your Farm. It connects to the nearby town of Calico Desert.

pelican town The City Center You will spend a major portion of your time in Pelican Town which is where most the villagers live and work. It is also the venue for many events. There are multiple shops, shing spots, and the Community Center. Refer to the next few pages for information on each location.

A. Pierre’s Shop The general goods store run by Pierre where you can buy seeds (which change each season), supplies for the farm to grow crops, and cooking basics such as wheat our, sugar, rice, vinegar, and oil. He also sells wallpaper and ooring which changes daily, along with fruit trees. Once you get to 8 hearts with any villager, he sells a bouquet which you can give to any of the single villagers. Once you nish the Community Center, his store will open 7 days a week. Pierre’s will buy crops and foragables. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Closed Wednesdays.

B. Community Center After the 5th of Spring, if you enter Pelican Town between 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Mayor Lewis will take you to the Community Center. It is in disrepair and strange creatures called Junimos are dwelling inside. The Mayor seeks your help in restoring the Community Center to its previous luster. This is where you will come to turn in items for bundles. If you buy the Joja Mart membership from Morris, it will become the Joja Mart Warehouse. Hours: All days, All times

C. JojaMart JojaMart is a big box store owned by Joja Corporation. The store is represented by Morris, the Customer Satisfaction Representative. Here you can shop for items similar to Pierre’s, however, their seeds are sold for a cost of about 25% more than Pierre’s, unless you have coupons. If you purchase a membership, prices become equivilent to Pierre’s but at a cost. They also sell special Joja Corporation products such as decorations and their agship product, Joja Cola. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM

D. Blacksmith Clint works and lives at the Blacksmith. He spends a large amount of time working here and is open 7 days a week. Here you can purchase ore, upgrade tools, and pay for Clint to break open Geode’s for 25 gold each. It should be noted, you cannot buy Iridium Ore here. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

E. Minecart (Town) A minecart is attached to the Blacksmith, once repaired you can use it to fast travel.

F. Museum & Library The Museum houses a library and a display area for artifacts found by the player. At the start of the game, the collection is empty and Gunther, the curator will ask you to help by donating Artifacts and Minerals. As you make donations, Gunther will provide you with rewards. There are a total of 95 items to be donated. When you nd missing books, which you can do by digging worms from the ground with your shovel, the books will offer tips for the player and you can read them in the library. Hours: All days, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

G. The Stardrop Saloon The local hangout in the evenings is The Stardrop Saloon, located in the center of town. It is owned and operated by Gus, who also lives here. Emily also helps Gus and works behind the bar in the evenings. Inside you can shop with Gus and buy cooked dishes and sometimes he will sell cooking recipes which rotate. You can also play two arcade games ( Journey of the Prairie King and Junimo Kart), play a tune on the Jukebox, or buy a Joja Cola from the soda machine. Hours: All days, 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM

H. Harvey’s Clinic The Clinic is where Harvey, the Doctor, lives and works. Maru also helps out at the clinic as a Nurse. Despite the low number of patients due to the generally good health of Stardew Valley residents, Harvey does see patients for their yearly check-ups. Harvey’s Clinic is located to the left of Pierre’s. You can also buy medical supplies from Harvey, including a couple tonics, one to restore energy and one to restore health. Both tonics are sold for 1,000 gold each. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

I. Sewer Entrance - Pelican Town The Sewer’s are initially locked and unavilable to the player. After obtaining the Rusty Key, you will have access to the Sewer’s, there are two entrances, one in Pelican Town and one in Cindersap Forest. Krobus is located inside and sells rare and expensive items. You can buy one Stardrop from Krobus for 20,000 gold, he also sells a few other items and one different item every day. There is also a shing spot inside where you can catch trash and one of ve of the Legendary Fish in the game, the Mutant Carp. The Sewers is how players can access the new Mutant Bug Lair area.

J. Emily & Haley’s House Emily and Haley live in the house on 2 Willow Lane, located on the southwest end of Pelican Town. Emily and Haley’s parents have left to travel the world so the girls are looking after the place until they return. Haley’s favorite ower can be seen planted in the front garden box, in the Fall. Once inside, Haley’s room is on the left, above the living room and Emily’s room is on the right, above the kitchen. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

K. Jodi, Kent, Sam, & Vincent’s House Jodi, Sam, and Vincent live in the house on 1 Willow Lane, located on the southwest end of Pelican Town. Kent, Jodi’s husband, is away during year 1 but will return to live with his family at the beginning of year 2. Once inside, Vincent’s room is directly to the right, Sam’s is beside his little brothers and has all the musical instruments. The bedroom located down the hall past the kitchen is Jodi and Kents. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

L. Alex, Evelyn, & George’s House Alex and his grandparents, Evelyn and George live in the house on 1 River Road, located to the east of Pierre’s Shop, just behind the Stardrop Saloon. Once inside, you’ll almost always nd George rmly planted in front of his television and Evelyn is often in the kitchen baking her famous cookies. Evelyn and George’s bedroom is down the hall in the back to the left, Alex’s is the big room on the right with all the exercise & sports equipment. Alex’s dog lives in the dog house just outside. Hours: All days, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM

M. Pam & Penny’s Trailer Pam and her daughter, Penny live in the trailer located east of the Saloon and north of the Mayor’s Manor near the river. Once inside, Penny’s room is on the left while Pam mostly lives on the couch when she’s not at the Stardrop Saloon or shopping at JojaMart. If you examine the trash bin, you’ll see all the empty beer bottles. If you visit early in the morning, you will hear Pam complaining about being hung over and that her head hurts. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM

N. Mayor Lewis’s Manor Being the Mayor of Pelican Town comes with its perks! Mayor Lewis lives in the beautiful Manor located in the south of Pelican Town, and to the east of the cemetary before the bridge that leads to the Museum & Library. Lewis can often be found outside tending to his garden. Once inside, you’ll notice the big spacious layout with a table set for entertaining. Lewis’s bedroom is o n the right. Hours: All days, 8:30 AM - 10:00 PM.

O. West Passage to the Bus Stop When arriving from the west passage, the player can follow the path directly into the center of town. Upon exiting using this passage, it will lead the player to the Bus Stop.

P. Southwest Passage to Cindersap Forest When arriving from the southwest passage, the player will be on Willow Lane in front of Jodi, Kent, Sam, & Vincents house. Upon exiting using this passage, it will lead the player to Cindersap Forest near Marnie’s Ranch and Leah’s Cottage.

Q. South Passage to the Beach When arriving from the south passage, the player will be on a small bridge directly South of Mayor Lewis’s Manor. Upon exiting using this passage, it will lead the player to the Beach.

R. North Passage to the Mountains When arriving from the north passage, the player will be above the river, which is on their right and near the Community Center. Upon exiting using this passage, it will lead the player to the Mountains and Robin’s Carpenter Shop.

fantastical tip The Notice Board at Pierre’s Shop Check the Notice Board outside Pierre’s Shop everyday. If there is a quest available, there will be a gold exclamation mark hovering about it. Quests can offer gold in exchange for items and may win you friendship points with the villagers when completed. Also, check the calendar here for upcoming birthdays!

cindersap forest Explore the natural forest The area directly south of your Farm is Cindersap Forest. It is home to Marnie’s Ranch, Leah’s Cottage, the Wizards Tower, and the Abandoned House. It is also where you can nd the Traveling Merchant, access the Sewer, and enter the Secret Woods. Refer to the next couple pages for information on each location.

A. Secret Woods Entrance

Requires an upgraded Axe to break the log blocking the entrance.

B. North Passage to the Farm

Entering puts you just west of Marnie’s Ranch, exiting leads you to the south end of your Farm. Entering puts you between Marnie’s Ranch and Leah’s Cottage, exiting leads you into Pelican Town on Willow Lane.

D. Marnie’s Ranch If you are in need of farm animals of animal supplies, you can buy them from Marnie’s Ranch. Marnie lives here along with her niece Jas and nephew Shane. You’ll also see Mayor Lewis around Marnie’s Ranch frequently... interesting. Marnie’s Ranch is located in the northeast corner of Cindersap Forest near the east and north passages. She sells Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Cows, Goats, and Pigs as well as supplies to take care of them including Hay, Milk Pail, Shears, and Heater. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Shop closed Mondays and Tuesdays when Marnie is out.

E. Leah’s Cottage Leah lives alone in her Cottage in Cindersap Forest. She seems to be an outdoor gal and enjoys the quiet life living among the wildlife. Leah’s Cottage is locked until the played has at least two friendship hearts with her. Her Cottage is located just south of Marnie’s Ranch near the east passage. Hours: All days, 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM with two friendship hearts.

G. Abandoned House This house is initially abandoned, probably due to its poor location on the outskirts in the far southwest of Cindersap Forest. After the player unlocks their rst achievement, a Mouse will take ownership of the dwelling and start selling hats for 1,000 gold each. You can return to the shop each time you earn another achievement, which is when a new hat becomes available for sale. Hours: All days, All hours

H. Wizards Tower This is the home of the Wizard, M. Rasmodius who lives alone on the western outskirts of Cindersap Forest since most of the villagers appear to be afraid of him. The tower is locked until the player meets Lewis at the Community Center for the rst time and the Wizard will then send a letter inviting you to his tower. After reaching 4 hearts with the Wizard, you can gain access to his trap door in the back room which leads down to the Shrine of Illusions where for 500 gold you can change your appearance. Hours: All days, 6:00 AM - 11:00 PM

I. Traveling Merchant The Traveling Merchant arrives every Friday and Sunday appearing in the northwest corner of Cindersap Forest, west of Marnie’s Ranch. She sells a variety of useful and rare items, including the Rare Seed and occasionally Ancient Fruit Seeds. Her merchandise is often sold at inated prices but is not season restricted like Pierre’s Shop and JojaMart. Hours: Friday & Sunday, 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM

The Mountains Miners & Fisherman Welcome The area directly north of Pelican Town is called the Mountains, it houses a large lake to sh. The Mountains is where you will also nd Robin’s Carpenter Shop, The Adventurer’s Guild, the Mines, the Quarry, the Spa, the train station, and Linus also lives up there in his tent. Refer to the next couple pages for information on each location.

A. South Passage to Pelican Town Entering puts you just south of Robin’s Carpenter shop, exiting leads you to the B. West Passage to Farm C. Entrance to Train Station D. Mountain Teleport Statue E. Bridge to the Quarry

north end of Pelican Town. Entering puts you just east of Linus’s tent, exiting leads you to the mountain passage to the north end of your farm. The entrance is initially blocked until about mid-Summer in year 1 when an earthquake strikes. Allows access to the Spa, Train and Witch Hut. Where you arrive when you teleport using a Mountain Totem. The bridge is initially broken and you are unable to cross. Once you nish the bundles in the Crafts Room in the Community Center, the bridge will be repaired.

F. Robin’s Carpenter Shop Robin is the town carpenter, you can come here to upgrade your house, build & upgrade farm buildings, and shop for furniture & other items. You can also buy and sell wood and stone with Robin. Robin lives here with her husband Demetrius and two children, Sebastian and Maru. Once inside, you will be at the counter where Robin works, to the right is Demetrius’ lab, down the stairs is Sebastians bedroom. If you go up the hallway, on the left is Maru’s room, to the right is Robin & Demetrius’ bedroom, and their kitchen is at the end of the long hallway. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Shop closed Tuesdays when Robin is out.

G. Linus’ Tent Linus lives in the mountains and prefers to be isolated from the rest of town. He likes the proximity to the local spa, where he goes regularly, and he also attends all the town events, but usually from a distance. You can visit Linus in his tent at any time, and he is usually close by.

H. The Mine Entrance Located to the west of the Adventurer’s Guild across the small wooden bridge. You can only cross this bridge and access the mines after the 5th day of Spring when you receive a letter saying the rubble has been cleared that was blocking the path, due to a Joja Corporation mishap. Inside, you will nd a mine cart to your left for fast travel, an elevator to the mines which can be accessed after reaching level 5 by ladder, and a rock blocking a path to your right. You can break the rock with an upgraded pick to speak with the Dwarf merchant on the other side. The mines are a great place to gather ore, collect gems, and slay monsters for the Adventurer’s Guild.

I. The Adventurer’s Guild The Adventurer’s Guild is located to the east of the mine entrance and is home to Marlon and Gil. Marlon is always behind the counter and Gil is in his rocking chair by the re, you cannot gift either of them.While inside, you can purchase and sell weapons, rings, and boots. You can also check your progress on your Monster Eradication Goals on the bulletin board on the wall, when you nish a monster goal, speak to Gil for your reward. Hours: All days, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM after reaching level 10 in the mines.

The Beach Sun, Sand, & Surf The area directly south of Pelican Town is the Beach. Here you will nd plenty of spots to toss a line and sh for ocean sh, scavenge the beach for shells, and Willy’s Fish Shop. The Beach is also where the Luau and the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies events are held. If you’re lucky, you might even see the Sea Monster swimming under Willy’s Fish Shop on the pier. Refer to the next couple pages for information on each location.

E. Willy’s Fish Shop Located on the southern docks, Willy lives and works at his Fish Shop. He sells a variety of useful items related to shing, including upgraded rods, crab pots, bait, and tackle. You can also sell him sh, shells, & crab pot related items. His inventory will increase as the players shing level increases. At shing level 6, the Iridium Rod becomes available for purchase. Willy may sometimes leave the shop early to go shing, around 4:00 PM. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Closed Saturdays unless it is raining

F. Elliott’s Cabin Located east of the beach entrance you will nd Elliott’s cabin. Elliott spends a lot of his time inside his cabin, although he will venture out to the Library, the river bank, and to the repit south of his cabin to watch the ocean. His cabin is initially locked. Hours: All days, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM (roughly), after reaching two friendship hearts with Elliott

The SEWERS Slimy, Dark and Smelly The Sewers have two entrances, one in the south of Cindersap Forest and the one in the southwest of Pelican Town. You can only enter the Sewers after you obtain the Rusty Key from Gunther at the museum, he will visit you on your farm and bring you the key (watch ‘Where to Get the Rusty Key & Unlock the Sewers’ on my YouTube channel). You can also sh here for the Mutant Carp. Refer to the next couple pages for information on each location.

C. Mutant Bug Lair Speak with Krobus after obtaining the quest ‘Dark Talisman’ and Krobus will open the Mutant Bug Lair. Until then, it will be unaccessible. The Mutant Bug Lair is dangerous, spawning innite mutant bugs. Bring a weapon. There are also shing opportunities here. The Mutant Bug Lair is the only place you can catch the Slimejack. Hours: All days, all hours.

D. Mutant Carp Fishing Dock You can sh for the Mutant Carp anywhere in the Sewers but I tend to have the best luck catching the Mutant Carp off the Sewers “dock”. Fishing in the Sewers you can also expect to catch a lot of junk items so you will want to have Recycling Machines on your farm ready to recycle the junk into useful items. Hours: All days, all hours.

E. Krobus Krobus is a friendly monster who lives in the Sewers. He is a Shadow Brute who lives in the sewer because he is too sensitive to sunlight to go outside. He is also a merchant who sells a variety of goods and has a birthday on Winter day 1. You can build your relationship with Krobus to 10 hearts like any other villager. Hours: All days, all hours.

Krobus can you sell items, including rare items, but each item has a limited inventory for that day it is for sale, excluding Void Eggs. He always sells Void Essence (10 qty, 100 Gold each), Solar Essence (10 qty, 100 Gold each), and Void Egg (unlimited qty, 5,000 Gold each).

The Return Scepter is a new item added to the game after the 1.1 update. It is quite expensive but allows the player to return to their farm at will, at any time, by using the Return Scepter in their quick slot menu.

Four items are available every day, until one is purchased and then it is removed from his inventory permanently. These items include a Stardrop (20,000 Gold), Crystal Floor Recipe (500 Gold), Wicked Statue Recipe (1,000 Gold and crafted with 25 Stone, 5 Coal and placed in a Slime Hutch to prevent the Witch from visiting/cursing your Slimes) and Return Scepter (2,000,000 Gold). The Return Scepter allows the player to return to the farm at will. One other item he sells changes every day of the week, similar to Sandy at the Oasis in Calico Desert. choosing your farm type When the player rst creates a new character, part of their choice includes selecting a Farm Type. Each farm offers unique benets, looks different, favors specic skills and require the player to use different tactics to turn a prot. Your farm house exterior will look the same, no matter the farm type you choose, but the interior will be decorated to reect the theme of your farm. And the coolest part about the game, it was developed by ONE man, ConcernedApe. He did everything you see from start to release in about 4 years time and I couldn’t be more impressed. So, a big thank you to him for making this robust, fun, and captivating game that revolves around a simple concept - sprucing up your farm and becoming a valuable & friendly citizen of Stardew Valley. Welcome to the Farm After quitting your corporate job behind a desk that you were tired of, you nd a letter from your Grandpa who has left you his pride and joy, his farm located in Stardew Valley. Your arrival is welcoming and you are greeted by Robin, the local Carpenter, and Mayor Lewis. They show you your new farm, in its current state, which is overgrown and lackluster, to say the least. Your house is small and your farm is a mess but the possibilities are big and you know you can bring the place back to life, and make Grandpa proud of you.

Shipping Container Before Mayor Lewis leaves, he tells you that if there is anything you don’t want, to place it in the Shipping Container outside by your mailbox and he will pick it up every morning. Before the end of each day, before you go to sleep, you’ll want to place any items you want to

sell inside the Shipping Container. Once you go to sleep for the night, you will see a summary screen which shows what you shipped that day and the total gold you earned. You can also sell some items to merchants in town, but shipping them is by far the easiest method and it accepts most all items.

Mailbox

The Weather Channel will tell you tomorrows weather, such as if it is going to be rainy, sunny, or stormy. The Fortune Teller will tell you how the spirit’s feel today. On extra luck days, you can harvest higher quality crops, catch better quality sh, and monsters will drop better loot. Two other channels come on only once per week. The Queen of Sauce will teach you new cooking recipes which you can use once you have a kitchen (your rst house upgrade). The other is Livin’ Off The Land, which offers tips and tricks for succeeding in Stardew Valley.

Check the mailbox outside your house each day, if you have a letter, a small envelope icon will oat above it. New letters can contain valuable information about events, quests, cooking recipes, and gifts from villagers.

Tools You start out with the basic tools you need to begin farming. A Pickaxe for breaking stone, an Axe for chopping wood, a hoe/shovel for planting crops and digging in soil, a Scythe for cutting grass, and a watering can for watering your crops. You can upgrade all of these tools at the Blacksmith as you

Television Channels Inside your house, you will find a television. You want to watch TV first thing every morning as it offers you valuable information.

Energy Bar The player has a Energy bar in the bottom right corner of the screen. It starts full at the beginning of the day. Everything you do requires energy, chopping trees, planting crops, shing, mining, and slaying monsters. At the end of each day, when you go to bed, you will wake up the next day with your energy bar restored. If you go to bed exhausted or go to sleep after 2:00 AM outside your bed, you will wake up with only half of your energy bar restored. You can eat food and take potions to replenish your energy bar. The player starts with 270 energy and if you nd the rare Stardrops located in the game, you can increase your energy by 34 points per Stardrop, up to a maximum energy of 508 points.

Health Bar The player has a health bar in the bottom right corner of the screen, however, it will only appear when in the Mines or when you get hurt by monsters (via the Slime Hutch or the Secret Woods) and it will stay on screen until you go to sleep. A players health is restored after sleeping. You can also restore health by eating food or consuming potions. If the players health reaches zero, they will pass out and be woken up by Linus, Robin, or Harvey and you will have been moved to your bed-

room, the mine entrance, or Harvey’s Clinic depending on the distance the player was from their bed when they fell asleep. If you wake up in Harvey’s Clinic, you are automatically charged 1,000 gold for “surgery”. No matter where you pass out from getting to zero health, you can lose money, a random assortment of items you had in your backpack (including tools), and knowledge of the mines (if inside when you passed out) which may require you to rediscover oors you have already visited. The lesson is, don’t let your health reach zero!

Day Cycle Each day goes from 6:00 AM, when the player wakes, to 2:00 AM. It is considered “night” after 6:00 PM. The player should always try to go to bed before midnight to ensure a full energy bar the next day, assuming you’re not exhausted. If you don’t make it to bed before 2:00 AM, you will fall asleep where you stand. When a player falls asleep outside of their bed, a JojaMart employee or Harvey will drag the player to bed, typically for a fee. The cost of this service will be mailed to you in a letter which can be found in your mailbox the next morning. Falling asleep on your front porch can cost as much as 1,000 gold. The day cycle is 18 hours or 13.5 minutes real-time and one in-game hour is 45 seconds real-time.

Saving your Game The game only saves after you go to sleep for the night and accept your inventory breakdown for the day. A message will appear in the bottom left corner saying your game has been saved.

Seasons There are four different seasons in Stardew Valley, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. The player begins the game in Spring. Each season is 28 days long and has its own unique look. For instance, in Spring you will see cherry blossoms oating through the air and in Winter everything is iced over and snowy. Many things in Stardew Valley are season dependent so it is important to pay attention to the calendar (on the outside of Pierre’s Shop). Seeds can only be grown outside during Spring, Summer, and Fall and there are specic crops you can grow during each season. Crops can be grown in Winter, but only inside the Greenhouse. Pierre’s Shop and Joja Mart will sell seeds you can grow during each season. It should also be noted that at the end of each season, all crops will die on the 1st day of the next season (except Corn which can be grown in Summer and Fall). It is important to pay attention to how long a crop takes to grow to ensure you have time to harvest. Fertilizers placed on soil will also expire on the 1st. Due to crops dieing on the 1st, you do not need to water your crops on the 28th day of a season since they will not last the night. Fruit Trees will bloom during their specied season and will produce a fruit every day of the season once fully grown, so you can acquire 28 fruit from one tree in a single season. You need to plan ahead with Fruit Trees, they do take 28 days to grow (a full season) and you must keep the area directly surrounding them clear for them to grow properly. Unlike crops, Fruit Trees will not die between seasons, they simply won’t produce fruit until the following year. There are no limits to the number of years that can be played.

Weather The current weather has an effect on game play. While it may be windy, or cloudy on some days, the only weather you really need to pay attention to are the ones that may alter your day and those are rain and storms. When it is raining, you don’t need to water your crops. And some villagers will deter from their normal schedules to avoid the rain. There are also some sh you can only catch while it is raining and it is the only time the Old Mariner comes to the Beach. On stormy days, where there is thunder and lighting, you will want to be wary that the lighting can strike and fell trees, destroy crops, destroy pathways, and break fences. What you may not know, is that the day after a storm, you will want to go to the beach and tide pools, as many shells and other valuables have an increased chance to wash up to shore the day after storms.

Planting Crops To make money to buy things you need, you will need to plant crops. In the early game, this is your primary source of income. You can buy seeds from Pierre’s Shop or JojaMart. Note, JojoMart charges 25% more for seeds until you acquire a Joja Membership (if you choose to do so).

To plant crops, you will need to use your hoe to till the soil. You can then place fertilizer down (if you want) and then plant your seeds. You should water all your newly planted seeds. Then you just need to wait for them to grow and harvest when ready.

Watering Crops You must water your crops every day for them to grow properly with your watering can, unless it is raining. Your watering can has a limited supply of water, you can rell your watering can at any water source. There is a small pond located in the northeast corner of your farm, and a larger pond located on the south end. You can also build a Well for your farm at Robin’s Carpenter Shop.

Sprinklers Eventually, the player will be able to craft sprinklers of varying quality. Sprinklers can also be purchased from Krobus and the Traveling Merchant. The sprinklers will automatically water your crops for you each morning. Ideally, you want all your crops on sprinklers so you don’t have to

waste your energy watering every day. You unlock Sprinkler at level 2 farming, this waters the 4 surrounding tiles. At level 6 farming you unlock the Quality Sprinkler, this waters the 8 surrounding tiles. At level 9 farming you unlock the Iridium Sprinkler, this waters the 24 surrounding tiles. Each sprinkler requires materials to craft.

Fencing & Pathways To keep weeds and animals out of your crops, you will want to place fences around them with a fence gate. You can keep animals inside a pen by enclosing it with fence and a fence gate. Fencing does break down over time and will require replacement. Hardwood fences are the best type of fencing as they take a very long time to break down. Pathways can also be used to deter grass from growing but debris can grow in place of pathways at the beginning of a new season. Lightning can also remove pathways.

Fishing The player can sh using a rod or by collecting sh from Crab Pots. Fishing requires you cast a line into water and wait for a bite. When you get a bite (a HIT will display on screen), and you want to reel the sh in. A mini-game will begin and the goal is to keep the green bar behind the sh at all times, until the bar on the right side lls up to completely green and you catch the sh. If the bar drains to red and then zero, you lose the sh and don’t catch anything. The green bar will also bounce when hitting the top or bottom. You can move the green bar by clicking and holding the mouse button or X button on your controller (don’t spam the buttons). As your shing skill increases, the green bar will increase making shing easier. If a treasure chest appears on your bar while trying to catch a sh, you can switch focus to the treasure chest by moving your green bar behind it, ll its bar till it disappears and then move your green bar back behind your sh to nish catching it. It is best to try to catch treasure chests, when the sh meter is almost full, so the sh doesn’t have time to escape while you are getting the treasure chest. If you successfully catch the sh, you will receive the sh and whatever is inside the treasure chest. If you toss your line into bubbling water pools in the water, the sh will bite more rapidly so keep an eye out for these spots in the water.

Decorating your House Interior You can change the wallpaper, ooring, and the furnishings inside your house. You can also choose where to place windows for natural light during the day. All wallpaper and ooring is available from the Catalogue for 0g. You can buy wallpaper and ooring from Pierre’s Shop for 100 gold each and JojaMart for 250 gold each. The wallpaper and ooring sold at both locations changes daily, they do not stack in your backpack or chests. You can buy furniture and windows for your house from Robin’s Carpenter Shop, occasionally, the Traveling Merchant may also sell furniture. You can also earn furniture from rewards for making donations at the Museum from Gunther at the counter. All furniture is available from the Furniture Catalogue for 0g.

Skills The player levels up skills in five different areas as they progress, Farming, Mining, Foraging, Fishing, and Combat. Increasing skill allows the player to be more efficient with tools and unlocks new crafting recipes. The levels go from 1 to 10 and the player can choose a profession at levels 5 and 10, with two options to choose from. Depending on what you choose at level 5, affects what you have to choose from at level 10.

Once you choose a profession, it cannot be changed so choose wisely to best accomodate your playing style. A temporary buff to specic skills can be acquired by eating specic foods. These temporary buffs will appear as icons next to the players in-game clock. Farming Each level grants +1 efciency to the hoe and watering can. Levels are gained by harvesting crops. Mining Each level grants +1 pickaxe prociency. Levels are gained by breaking stone and ore with your Pickaxe. Foraging Each level grants +1 axe prociency. Levels are gained by gathered foragables and gathering wood from fallen trees. Stumps, saplings, and timber fell by lightning do not count towards your skill level. Fishing Each level grants +1 fishing rod proficiency. Levels are gained by shing using a shing rod and harvesting items from Crab Pots. Combat Each level grants +5 health points. Levels are gained by ghting monsters.

growing crops In Stardew Valley, growing crops will be on the things you need to do in order to succeed and progress in the game. Not only is it a great source of money, it will also provide you with cooking ingredients for recipes, gifts for villagers, Community Center bundle items, and quest items. Crops are seasonal and can only be grown outdoors in Spring, Summer, and Fall. If you have the Greenhouse, you can grow crops inside the Greenhouse without the season restrictions and grow crops during Winter. It is important to remember, at the end of a season, crops will die on the rst day of the new season. Pay attention to grow times and season restrictions. If you are making your own seeds, instead of buying them, plan ahead and have your seeds ready to plant on the 1st day of the new season. Crops have a quality when harvested that can increase their value. Quality ranges from Basic, Silver (1.25x), Gold (1.5x) and Iridium (2x) displayed on the crop as a colored star.

general tips Grow Times The day you plant your seeds does not count towards the grow time. Each crop has its own grow time which is listed on the seed packet. Pay attention to these times and make sure to get them planted with enough time to harvest.

Scarecrows If there is not a Scarecrow in the vicinity of your crops, a crow can eat your crops (which removes them). Scarecrows will protect an 8x8 area of space vertically and horizontally and a 6x6 area of space diagonally from its location. This area is a total protected circular space of 249 spaces surrounding the Scarecrow. Rarecrows protect the same area as regular Scarecrows and are purely cosmetic. There are 8 Rarecr ows that can be collected in Stardew Valley. Scarecrows can be crafted after achieving Farming Level 1 and require 50 Wood, 1 Coal, and 20 Fiber to craft.

Giant Crops Trellis Crops Some crops grow on a trellis, such as Green Beans, Grapes, and Hops. Once planted, these crops cannot be walked through. It is important to note, if you have a Junimo Hut, the Junimos can walk through trellis crops for harvesting, even if you can’t. This can allow you to plant trellis crops in big square grids.

There is a chance of Cauliower, Melon and Pumpkin growing a giant crop when planted in a 3x3 pattern. A Giant crop is a single plant that yields twice the amount of items and takes up 9 squares. Giant crops must be harvested with an Axe. They will not die at the end of a season or in winter.

It is important to keep this in mind when planting so you can access all the crops when they are ready to harvest. I like to plant mine on the edge of a garden plot, in a single row so I can walk on all sides of the crop, but double rows could work also. You need access to at least one side to harvest.

Fruit trees can be a worthwhile investment if crafted into Artisan Goods. Fruit Tree Saplings are sold year-round at Pierre’s Shop, but may also be purchased occasionally at the Traveling Merchant, sometimes at a reduced price, sometimes at an inated price.

Wild Seeds Wild Seeds come in four varieties Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. They can be crafted out of foragables, once you reach the appropriate level (Spring level 1, Summer level 4, Fall level 6, Winter level 7). When crafted they produce 10 seed packets. cOMMUNITY CENTER After the 5th of Spring forward, if you go to Pelican Town between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm you will trigger a cut scene with Mayor Lewis. Lewis will lead you to the Community Center. He will talk to you about the history of the Community Center and how he just can’t bare the thought of selling it to Joja Corporation who has shown interest in it. When he unlocks the door and you follow him inside, you will witness you rst encounter with the Junimos. Mayor Lewis won’t see the Junimo however, and will think you are seeing rats and asks if you have time to take care of them. After the cut scene ends, head back inside. Go to the left and into the rst room on the bottom, this is the Crafts Room. You’ll nd a glowing scroll covered in strange writing on the oor that you are unable to read. Attempt to read the scroll and leave. The next day you will receive a letter from the Wizard, who would like to invite you to his tower. He may have a solution for your “rat” problem. The Wizard Tower is located on the far west side of Cindersap Forest. Until now, it was locked. Once inside, the Wizard will talk to you about the “rat” problem and show you that he knows about the Junimos and summons one to show you. Then, he will mysteriously vanish to investigate the problem himself. When he returns, he makes a potion that you will drink. You can now read the mysterious Junimo scrolls. Return to the Community Center and start completing the bundles for each room to start earning rewards. You are rewarded for each bundle completed and each room completed.

Visit the Quarry regularly, new rocks, logs, ore and worms in the dirt will appear each day. His shop is closed on Saturdays, unless it is raining, then he will open. Willy sells a variety of useful items, including better shing poles so be sure to stop by and check out his inventory.

The next day, go up to the Mountains and a cut scene will trigger with Willy. He will point out that the giant glittering boulder is no longer blocking the water from the mountain and offer you his extra Copper Pan. You can now use the Copper Pan to collect Ore from sparkling spots in water.

Tourist “Quick” Guide to Calico Desert Did you know Calico Desert is home to some unique areas in the game, only accessible aftering repairing the bus or after completing quests?

Fish for Sandsh The only area in the game where you can catch Sandsh is in the pond in Calico Desert in the Northwest corner of the map.

When you have nished all the bundles in the Vault, the Junimo’s will appear. Then you will receive a gold star on the Community Center mantle. Head home and go to sleep for the night and a cut scene will trigger, showing the Junimo’s dancing by the Bus. The next day, go over to the Bus Stop and you will see the bus is repaired and you can now buy a bus ticket to travel to Calico Desert.

Shop at Oasis The Oasis Shop run by Sandy sells a variety of useful items including seeds and a rotating fourth item.

The Casino The Oasis has a bouncer blocking a door. Complete the Mysterious Qi quest line to gain access to the Casino. You can start the quest by walking left of the bus stop and into the dark tunnel, bring a battery pack for the wall panel. Skull Cavern More challenging mines await in Skull Cavern, they are randomly generated with no elevators. Can you get to the bottom? You will need the Skull Key, which you can get from a chest on level 120 of the Mines in the Mountains. Foragables Unique items can be acquired by foraging the desert, including Coconut and Cactus Fruit. You can also sometimes buy these desert items from the Traveling merchant but they are free here, so stock up!

Tips about the Bus Stop You can buy a ticket to Calico Desert at the Bus Stop for 500 gold at the ticket station to the left of the bus. You will need to buy a ticket every time you want to go to Calico Desert, the ticket is two-way. Buying a ticket initiates a cut scene and the player will travel to Calico Desert. You can only buy a ticket when the Bus Driver, Pam, is present. Pam is at the bus stop most days, from 10:10 AM - 5:00 PM. She may not be there when there are events in Pelican Town during the day. You can return from Calico Desert any time before 2:00 AM by Bus. If you leave your horse at the bus stop when you go to Calico Desert, he will wait patiently for your return.

the future of jojamart JojaMart is overwhelmingly seen as the evil corporate giant that has pushed its way into peaceful Stardew Valley. Shane works at JojaMart as the stock boy and hates his job, which is probably why he spends his evenings in the Stardrop Saloon and is generally rude to the player. Pam can be seen shopping in JojaMart almost daily, she likes the cheap prices (although, their prices aren’t always cheaper). Sam also works at JojaMart but only part-time on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can shop at JojaMart, they sell similar items to Pierre’s. You can nd a note in Pierre’s room from Morris, the JojaMart Customer Satisfaction Representative sarcastically appologizing for moving in on Pierre’s business and offering him a job at JojaMart for next to nothing. You can decide the future of JojaMart, if you choose to nd all the items for the bundles in the Community Center and repair it to its original condition, JojaMart will close. Or, you can buy a Joja Mart membership and their foothold into Stardew Valley will strengthen.

JojaMart Closes If you choose to complete all the bundles in the Community Center by turning in items, you will be working towards building the community for Mayor Lewis. Once you nish all the bundles in the Community Center, the Junimo’s will disappear and the Community Center will be restored to its original condtion. Some villagers will start to frequent the Community Center again, Evelyn can often be found in the Crafts Room and Mayor Lewis sometimes will visit the Vault, which appears to be his new ofce. Pierre’s Shop will now be open 7 days per week and Joja Mart will close. Congratulations, you have squashed the corporate bug who infested Stardew Valley!

JojaMart Expands Morris will reach out to you and offer to let you buy a Joja Mart membership for 5,000 gold. Mayor Lewis has said that if one more person in Stardew Valley buys a JojaMart membership he will have to sell the Community Center. If you buy the JojaMart membership from Morris (you can do so at any time from inside JojaMart), JojaMart will expand its business and the Community Center will turn into the JojaMart Warehouse. The player can still complete the bundles in the Warehouse to get the rewards, however, all bundles now come at a cash price of 15k - 45k instead of in exchange for items. It should be noted, this play-style relies heavily on cash crops and is much more difcult to progress.

the magic ink questline The Wizard has lost his magic ink and he has left it inside his ex-wife’s house, the Witch Hut, whom he magically sealed her inside. He now needs his magic ink returned to him and in order to do that he requests you nd the Dark Talisman. The Dark Talisman will break the seal and allow you access to the Witch Hut, a place the Wizard dare not go for he fears running into his ex.

To Begin the Two Part Quest Line To initiate the cut scene to begin the Wizards quest line for his Magic Ink, the player will need to have already completed the Community Center, by nishing all the Bundles in all the rooms OR completing the Joja Warehouse via Joja Mart Community Development Form (accessed in Joja Mart from Morris at the Customer Service desk. Once you have met the pre-requisites, go to the railroad in the mountains during the day to trigger a cut scene with the Wizard. The cut scene will result in a new journal entry for the Dark Talisman quest.

Dark Talisman - Part One The journal entry indicates Krobus may know more about the Dark Talisman, go to the Sewers (accessible from the southeast of Cindersap Forest or south of Pelican Town). To enter the Sewers, you must have the Rusty Key in your wallet. To nd out how to get the Rusty Key watch my YouTube video ‘Where to get the Rusty Key and Access the Sewers’. Mutant Bug Lair After entering the Sewers, speak with Krobus. He will magically reveal the entrance to the Mutant Bug Lair in the Sewers. Before proceeding into the Mutant Bug Lair, make sure to bring a weapon. Bugs will spawn innitely inside and I highly recommend bringing a quality weapon to kill them and a pickaxe to remove rocks in your path (bombs would also do the trick!). Once equipped with a weapon, proceed through the entrance to the Mutant Bug Lair until you open the treasure chest at the end that contains the Dark Talisman. The Lair isn’t particularly large, so players should not have trouble nding the chest, which is located at the north end. Next, return to the Railroad.

fantastical tip Catch the Slimejack If you dare linger and can avoid the bugs in the Mutant Bug Lair, there is a sh you can only catch there called the Slimejack. You can catch him any time, any season. Slimejack sell for between 100g – 150g (base price) and up to 225g for a Gold Slimejack with the Angler Profession (+50% sell price). You can also catch Carp in the Mutant Bug Lair but it is a dangerous place to sh.

Break the Magic Seal to the Witch Hut Once you have obtained the Dark Talisman, it will be placed in your Wallet. Return to the railroad and interact with the magically sealed entrance. Head inside and step over the seal to teleport to the Witches Swamp.

Goblin Problems - Part Two Once you have teleported to the Witches Swamp, a large henchman will be blocking your path. When you talk to him, he insists he cannot let any one through or he will lose his job. However, he can be persuaded to move. A lost book at the library indicates goblins love Void Mayonnaise. To obtain a Void Mayonnaise, you can place a Void Egg into a Mayonnaise Machine or purchase a Void Mayonnaise from the traveling merchant (rare item). If you don’t yet have a Void Egg, the easiest way to obtain one is to buy one from Krobus in the Sewers. Bring the henchman a Void Mayonnaise and he will happily move out of your path. Enter the Witch Hut Continue on to the Witch Hut. Once inside, recover the Wizards Magic Ink, the purple bottle on the left side table. Return to the Wizard to continue the questline. You can use the rune on the oor to teleport to the Wizard Tower, you will arrive in his basement.

The Witch Hut The interior of the Witch Hut not only contains the Wizards Magic Ink but also three shrines and a teleporation rune you can use at any time. Dark Shrine of Memory Erases a divorced spouses memory, making them forget you were ever married. Cost: 30,000g

Dark Shrine of Selshness Turns your kids into doves permanently. You will no longer have children should you do this. Cost: Prismatic Shard

Dark Shrine of Night Terrors Toggles any farm type to have monster spawn at night. Can be toggled on/off. Cost: Strange Bun

fantastical tip Catch the Void Salmon You can catch the Void Salmon sh, any season and any time from the Witches Swamp. Void Salmon sell for between 150g – 225g (base price) and up to 337g for a Gold Void Salmon with the Angler Profession (+50% sell price). You can also catch other items from the Witches Swamp including Seaweed and random junk items.

Return the Wizards Magic Ink Go to the Wizard Tower in Cindersap Forest, open between 6 AM - 11 PM daily or by teleporting from the Witch Hut. Speak with the Wizard and he will thank you! He will also reward you with access to his Book of Summoning, completing the two part quest line.

magic farm buildings To summon, or construct, buildings for your farm, interact with the Book of Summoning in the Wizard Tower. These buildings are conjured by the Wizards magic and require no build time. Each building is very expensive and are meant for mid-to-late game players as their unique building perks aid busy players with bustling farming operations. The construction menu is very similar to Robin’s Carpenter Shop, you can also move magic buildings or Robin’s buildings from the Book of Summoning.

Building Cost: 20,000 Gold, 200 Stone, 9 Starfruit & 100 Fiber The Junimo Hut houses Junimos that will harvest crops around the hut for you, excluding Wild Seeds. They will not harvest in the rain.

Building Cost: 1,000,000 Gold, 10 Iridium Bars, & 10 Earth Crystals The Earth Obelisk warps you to the mountains. Similarly to Warp Totem: Mountains but it is not consumable, it is a permanent teleport building.

fantastical tip Junimo Plush Did you know there is a super adorable Junimo Plush you can get for free? Here is the catch, you can ONLY get it by shaking the Bush at the top of the playground in Pelican Town on the 28th Day of a Season, at 12 noon on the dot. The Junimo Plush can be placed inside your house or a Shed. You can only get one.

junimo harvesting & grids Junimos harvest a 17x17 grid around their hut. Their reach is 7 spaces left, right, above and 8 spaces below. Three Junimos live in each hut, they will come out to harvest crops and place a bag outside the hut with your crops and go back inside when they nish. The bag holds the same amount of content as a chest, be sure to check it occasionally to ensure there is room for the Junimos to harvest and store more. You do not have to be at the farm for the Junimos to harvest. However, if you end the day by sleeping before they nish harvesting, they do not automatically nish and will continue harvesting the next day. You can plant trellis crops in a grid for the junimos to harvest (despite you not being able to reach the center ones, they will… because magic!)

One is for large areas and the other can be used in more compact spaces. Each grid design allows for scarecrows, sprinklers and walk paths. It is important to build your friendship rating with the villagers, as it will allow you to start receiving gifts from them, they will also share their favorite cooking recipes, and offer additional story dialog. Achieve super best friend status of 10 hearts with a single villager (of any sex) and you could even get married and have children. It’s all about the Hearts - Make Friends Building your friendship with villagers is based on your heart rating, you can achieve up to 10 hearts with a villager and 13 hearts with a spouse. Each heart represents 250 points. If you go into your social (heart) menu, you will see all of the villagers and your current heart rating. To the right of the hearts shows the gift status with that villager for the week. You can give each villager two gifts per week and only one a day. Once you give a gift, a green checkbox will appear to the right of the giftbox.

Give Gifts Be sure to give gifts early and often. I like to carry around a stack of blueberries and give them to anyone I see. Mostly because they are generally liked by most villagers and they are plentiful. Be mindful of villagers reactions to gifts though, each villager has unique likes and dislikes. And it is best to give them something they love (worth 80 points) or like (worth 45 points). If they really love something, a little heart will appear above their head when they receive the gift and they will tell you how much they like it. This is fantastical good and will boost your heart rating much more quickly.

Complete Quests for Villagers Villagers will post quests to the bounty board located in front of Pierre’s Shop in the center of town. If the quest indicates that completion will make a villager happy, you will receive 150 friendship point immediately upon completion. Be careful of time, as many of these quests only are available for 2 days after you accept them.

Be Conversational Engage in conversation with villagers, sometimes they will offer valuable information as to what they or their friends like/dislike. Speaking with a villager offers 20 points, ignoring a villager for 2 days takes away 2 points. Occassionally, after reaching certain heart ratings with villagers you will have cutscenes with them, sometimes they ask your opinion and that opinion can affect how they think about you. Your heart rating can go up and down, so keep that in mind when answering their questions. Note, once you max out hearts with a Villager, it will not decay (as of update 1.07).


fantastical tip The 2 Heart Minimum Most villagers will not let you into their bedrooms unless you have a minimum of 2 hearts with them. Try to get to at least 2 hearts with all villagers so you can access their rooms, you may need inside for quests or to give them their birthday gifts (it’s a bummer to have to wait all day outside someones door just to give them their gift). I’m talking to you Sebby!

Remember Birthdays Every villager in Stardew Valley has a birthday. You can check the calendar on the front of Pierre’s shop to see whose birthday might be coming up or you can purchase a calendar from Robin’s Carpenter Shop and put one in your house (which I recommend doing). You want to give villagers a birthday gift on their birthday, it goes a long way in boosting your heart rating. If you give them something they love on their birthday, you will receive 640 points (that is 8x the value of a loved gift on a normal day) which could gain you as many as two full hearts with one gift. Liked birthday gifts will give you 360 points. Birthday gifts do not count towards the weekly gift giving limit.

Personally, I have found blueberries, blackberries, and coffee are generally well received with a couple exceptions. Jas and Vincent hate coffee and dislike blueberries and blackberries (along with Sebastian and Abigail who aren’t berry lovers).

Generally, all villagers dislike sh, crafting & building items, minerals (not to be confused with gems), fertilizer, tackle, furniture, monster loot (the Wizard is an exception, he loves solar essence and void essence), and seeds. Personally, I have found salmonberries are not generally well received with a few exceptions, Jodi, Linus, Shane, Pam, Leah, Demetrius, and Robin seem to like them.

grandpa The player received their farm in Stardew Valley thanks to their Grandpa, who they receive a note from in the beginning of the game. That is not the last you will see of Grandpa though. Grandpa’s Shrine is located in the northwest corner of your farm, when it is interacted with, it says ‘Grandpa’s Shrine’. You will nd a note on the shrine that says Grandpa will return at the start of Year 3 to evaluate your success.

grandpa's evaluation The evaulation Grandpa gives you is directly related to the number of candles lit around Grandpa’s Shrine at the beginning of Year 3 (Spring, Day 1). The number of candles lit is based on a point system, and points are earned during the rst two years by reaching specic milestones. Milestones are worth points and there are a total of 21 points possible. If you do not get all four candles lit right away, don’t be discouraged. You can have Grandpa re-evaluate you at any time by placing a Diamond in his Shrine. Grandpa will then appear the following day, when the game loads, or in some cases, the rst day of the next season.

statue of perfection After you evaluation from Grandpa, if you receive a total of 12 or more points, you will be awarded with the Statue of Perfection. There is no indication that it is available to you, after Grandpa “visits”, you will want to go to Grandpa’s Shrine. If all 4 candles are lit, it means you earned more than 12 points and you can now interact with the Shrine to receive the Statue.

how to get married The player can marry any of the Bachelor’s or Bachelorette’s regardless of their characters gender. In order to marry, you need to meet a few requirements and complete a few tasks. Spouses will offer assistance on the farm, such as repairing fences, feeding animals, watering crops, or lling your pets water bowl. They may also make you breakfast, providing you with an Omelet, Hashbrowns, Pancakes, etc. If they are happy enough, you may also be able to start a family by having kids - or by adoption if in a same-sex marriage. step one, declare your love with flowers Once you have achieved 8 hearts with a bachelor or bachelorette (single villager), Pierre will send you a letter in the mail. The letter indicates that Pierre is now selling special Bouquets at his shop. To declare you intention to marry, gift the bouquet to the single villager of your choice. It is impossible to get a single villager past 8 hearts unless you giv e them the bouquet. It is possible to gift all th e single villagers bouquets in order to get them all to 10 hearts before proceeding to the next step of marriage, which would allow you to see all possible 10 heart cut scenes. Once you are married, gifting a bouquet to a villager besides your spouse, will have negative effects on your heart rating with your spouse.

step two, get engaged Once you have given a Bouquet to your special someone, you will need to purchase a Mermaid’s Pendant. You can buy a Mermaid’s Pendant from the Old Mariner on the northeast end of the Beach, above the tide pools across the small wooden bridge. The Old Mariner will only appear on rainy days during Spring, Summer, and Fall. He will not appear in Winter. You can buy the pendant from him for 5,000 gold once you have 10 hearts with a single villager and have upgraded your house at least once. Once you have acquired the Mermaid Pendant, gift it to your special someone.

step three, get married After you get engaged, your wedding will take place 3 days later, rst thing in the morning after you wake. After the wedding ceremony, the player and their Spouse will appear on their front porch at 6:00 AM. If you go inside your house, you will see their “marriage room” has been added on to your house and is themed based on their likes. There is also a new outdoor space, abov e your mailbox for your spouse based on their hobbies.

how to get divorced Should you decide your spouse is no longer the mate for you, players can visit the Mayor’s Manor in Pelican Town. Inside, there is a small book that will give them the option to divorce their spouse. Divorce costs 50,000 gold. After ling for divorce, players have the option to change their mind before the end of the day, up until 10 PM when Lewis’ house closes. If they proceed, their spouse will be gone the next day and their friendship level will revert to 0 hearts. Under their name it will now state (ex). After the divorce, the spouse will move back to their old home, and will have negative interactions with the player due to their failed marriage. Players can reverse this negativity from their ex by using one of the Shrine’s in the Witch Hut to erase their ex-spouses memory, as if the marriage and divorce never happened. Should one choose, they could even date and re-marry their ex. Any children from the marriage will stay at the farmhouse unless you opt to turn them into doves using the Witch Hut shrine. marriage & kids Once your Spouse has moved into your house, you will now be able to get them to 12 hearts instead of 10. Keeping them happy and increasing your friendship rating will result in them helping out around the farm and cooking meals. If your spouse becomes unhappy at any time, they may stop helping out and complain. You need to continue giving your spouse gifts, even after marriage, if you want to keep them happy. Interacting with your spouse when no more dialog is available, will result in a loving embrace - a little heart will appear over your heads.

gifts & Jealousy

having children

Gifting other single villagers after marriage may result in your spouse questioning it and becoming jealous, which can have a negative effect on your friendship rating. Gifting another single villager with a Bouquet, can result in a loss of up to 2 hearts with your spouse.

In order to have kids, you need to have fully upgraded your house so you have the Nursery upstairs. If you are in a same-sex marriage, you will be able to adopt. You can have up to two kids, of each gender.

You can increase your heart rating with your spouse through gifts, as usual. However, you are no longer restricted to two gifts per week with your spouse, but you can only gift them once per day.

spouse chores If your spouse is kept happy, they will help out around the farm by doing chores. They may repair all of the broken fences, water crops during Spring, Summer, and Fall, feed the animals, and ll your pets water bowl. The may also cook you breakfast or dinner, if you have an empty inventory slot. You can receive a random breakfast item such as an Omelet, Hashbrowns, or Pancakes. For dinner, you could receive a random dinner item such as Spaghetti, Parsnip Soup, or Fried Eel. Spouses will leave the farm o n Mondays, unless it is raining. Sebastian, Sam, and Abigail will leave on Friday nights to go to the Stardrop Saloon.

stardrop, best gift ever! At 13 out of 12 hearts, which won’t show up in your heart rating but it is possible, your spouse may reward you with a Stardrop as a token of their love.

Your chance of your spouse asking if you want to have kids increases if you go to bed before them. You will also need at least 10 hearts with them, and have been married for at least 7 days, this gives you a 5% chance. The baby will appear in the crib 14 days after your spouse asks if you want to have kids. Adoption works very similarly. You wait 14 days, during which your spouse will mention they led the adoption paperwork. Your child will appear in the middle of the night with a note saying the adoption agency dropped them off. Only valid in same sex marriages. Warning, completing a Community Center or JojaMart bundle the night before the baby is due, can cause the baby to not arrive. For the rst 14 days after your child is born, they will remain sleeping in the crib. After this, they will stand in the crib and you can interact with them for the next 14 days. Next, your baby will crawl around the house and play with toys during the day for 14 days. Finally, the baby will become a toddler (the current, nal stage of kids) and begin sleeping in one of the beds in the nursery. This will free up the crib for a second child which can now be born. You can only have two kids. You can get 10 hearts with your children.

seasonal festivals There are two festivals each season and Mayor Lewis will send you a letter to remind you of the upcoming event. His letters will detail what time they start, end, and where to go to attend. He will also tell you if you need to bring anything for the festival. On the day of the festival, a pop-up will appear in your bottom left corner of your screen, saying the festival has begun. You will need to remember when the festival ends, so you can be sure to arrive before then if you want to attend. When you are at a festival, time does not appear to be a factor. You can stay as long as you’d like so feel free to explore, but you typically return home to your farm well into the evening, usually around 10:00 PM, no matter the time the festival was scheduled to “end”. Festivals are a great chance to talk to ALL the villagers, as they always attend. This can help boost your friendship rating simply by chatting with everyone while you are at the festival. Some festivals have events you can participate in, others may require you bring something, and some have shops you can buy special items from, including Rarecrows, so be sure to bring some gold! It should also be noted that on festival days, you are not able to enter the area the festival will be held until it starts. Some villagers will also differ from their regular schedules on these days, for instance, Robin the Carpenter will not work on your farm buildings on festival days. Plan accordingly!

spring The Egg Festival Spring, Day 13 | Pelican Town You can enter the festival in Pelican Town between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 10:00 PM. Some of the Villagers and the player will participate in the Annual Egg Hunt. Talk to Mayor Lewis to start the event. In order to win, the player must nd 9 colored eggs hidden in town and you will be rewarded with the Straw Hat. If you have already won during a previous year, you will receive 1,000 gold instead. If the player fails to nd 9 eggs, Abigail will win. Pierre will have a shop set-up during The Egg Festival. He sells Strawberry Seeds and a Plush Bunny (decorative). This is the only time you can buy Strawberry Seeds. Flower Dance Spring, Day 24 | Southwest of Cindersap Forest You can enter the festival by going to Cindersap Forest and crossing the small wooden bridge south of the Wizard’s Tower between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 10:00 PM. During the festival, you can participate in the Flower Dance. You will need a partner, and you can ask any of the Bachelors or Bachelorettes to dance. They will decline unless you have a minimum of 4 hearts with them. Count on watching during year 1. Talk to Mayor Lewis to being the dance. Pierre will have a shop set-up during the Flower Dance. He sells Dandelion, Daffodil, Tub o’ Flowers, Tub o’ Flowers crafting recipe, and Rarecrow #5 (my personal favorite).

summer Luau Summer, Day 11 | The Beach You can enter the festival on the Beach between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 10:00 PM. The Governor is attending the event and Mayor Lewis will ask you to bring an ingredient to put into the Soup. Once you place your ingredient into the soup cauldron, talk to Mayor Lewis. The Governor will taste the soup and react to its quality. This reaction from the Governor may either positively or negatively effect your heart rating with all of the villagers. I have had positive reactions with Trufe and Trufe Oil. Not all items can be added to the soup. There is no shop set-up during the Luau. Dance of the Moonlight Jellies Summer, Day 28 | The Beach You can enter the festival by going to the Beach between 10:00 PM - 11:50 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 12:00 AM. During the festival, there isn’t much to do other than admire the beautiful Jellies. You can talk to all the villagers and when you are ready, you can talk to Mayor Lewis to start the event. Note, once you talk to Mayor Lewis, you are triggering the event to end and will not be able to return. There is no shop set-up during the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies.

fall Stardew Valley Fair Fall, Day 16 | Pelican Town You can enter the festival in Pelican Town between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 10:00 PM. This is probably the most interesting festival as there are many things to do here and a Stardrop is up for grabs, which permanently increases your Energy Bar. You can play a variety of mini-games to earn Star Tokens. Star Tokens can be redeemed at the booth at the entrance of the festival in exchange for prizes. You can exchange your tokens for Dried Sunowers (decorative), Fedora (hat), Rarecrow #1, and a Stardrop. The festival also features the Grange Display contest. Mayor Lewis has asked you bring 9 items to the Fair to be judged. In order to win, you need 90 points and if you win, you will receive 1,000 Star Tokens. You get 14 points automatically and each unique item add 5 points (i.e. Vegetable, Fish, Fruit, Artisan Goods, etc.). You also want to bring gold quality items, each gold quality item will add 3 points. Silver is 2 points, regular is 1 point. If you bring a variety of gold quality items with a minimum sell value of 400 gold, you can receive the max number of points per item, which is 8 points. Here is a sample of items you could bring to win 1st prize (all items are gold quality); Dorado, Mayonnaise, Trufe, Pumpkin, Ancient Fruit, Blue Jazz, Rainbow Shell, Leek, and a Star Fruit. You will be competing against Marnie, Pierre, and Willy. Watch my video ‘Grange Display, How to Win 1st Prize’. There are six mini-games you can choose to play to earn Star Tokens. Most cost gold to participate, although the Smashing Stone is free to play. Booths include the Fishing MiniGame, Slingshot Mini-Game, Smashing Stone, Token Seller, Clairvoyant Booth, and the Spinning Wheel. Winning will reward you with varying amounts of tokens based on your performance or choices. Or you can just buy tokens for 50 gold each at the Token Seller.

Spirit’s Eve Fall, Day 27 | Pelican Town You can enter the festival in Pelican Town between 10:00 PM - 11:50 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 12:00 AM. The player can journey into the Haunted Maze during the festival north of Pierre’s Shop. If you can nd your way through the maze to the secret chest, you will be rewarded with a Golden Pumpkin. While it is not used for anything, it is valuable and can be sold for 2,500 gold. Watch my video ‘How to open the Chest in the Haunted Maze’. Pierre will have a shop set-up during Spirit’s Eve. He sells Jack-O-Lantern, Jack-O-Lantern crafting recipe, and Rarecrow #2.

winter Festival of Ice Winter, Day 8 | Cindersap Forest You can enter the festival in Cindersap Forest between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 10:00 PM. At the festival you will see the Villagers working on igloos and building snowmen. If you talk to Penny, you can help decide what her and Jas’ snowman will look like. The festival hosts an Ice Fishing Competition. To start the event, talk to Mayor Lewis. Note, once you decide to start the shing competition, you will no longer be able to explore the festival. Watch my video ‘How to Win the Ice Fishing Competition’. To win, you will need to catch at least 5 sh and you will be competing against Pam, Willy, and Elliott. If you win, you will receive three Tackles and a Sailor’s Cap (hat). If you have already won during a previous year, you will be rewarded with gold. There is no shop set-up during the Festival of Ice.

Feast of the Winter Star Winter, Day 25 | Pelican Town You can enter the festival in Pelican Town between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. When you decide to leave, you will be returned to your doorstep at 10:00 PM. The Feast of the Winter Star is an event similar to a Secret Santa gift exchange. You are assigned a person to give a gift to, Mayor Lewis will send a letter to your mailbox telling you who your assigned person is on Day 18, so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare a gift for them. Likewise, someone will be assigned you. Be sure to bring your gift to the event, locate the person you were assigned to and give them their gift. After you give your gift, a cutscene will start and the villager who was assigned you, will arrive with a package. You will open your gift and receive an item, or multiples of that item. The gift you receive it based on that Villagers loves, for instance, Marnie will give you a dozen Eggs while Vincent will give you Pink Cake. If you talk to Willy while at the event, he will tell you a story of a mysterious Stardrop. Requirements for this Stardrop, or if it even exists, are still unknown. You can also talk to Gus and he will tell you a long winded story about how he hand crafts candy canes. You can talk to all the Villagers at the festival, but Willy and Gus are the stand-outs. There is no shop set-up during the Feast of the Winter Star.

Tool upgrades The player begins with a set of basic tools. A Pickaxe, Axe, Hoe, Scythe, and Watering Can. All but the Scythe can be upgraded by Clint, the Blacksmith, for a fee and metal bars. Upgrading tools takes 2 days, so plan accordingly. For instance, if it is supposed to rain tomorrow, water all your crops today and then go upgrade your watering can. It will be ready the day after it rain s, when you will need it again. While upgrading a tool you cannot shop with Clint or ask him to break open Geodes.

pickaxe The pickaxe is used to mine stone. You will notice that as you upgrade your pickaxe you will become more efcient at breaking stones and can start to break larger stones as well. At steel, small rocks only will take a maximum of 2 hits to break. At gold, small rocks break in a single hit.

axe The axe is used to chop down trees for wood and sap. It is also used to chop large stumps and large logs for hardwood, as well as harvesting giant crops. As you upgrade your axe, it will become more efcient and take less hits to chop down trees, and break stumps and logs. Each tier upgrade requires 2 less hits for trees and 1 less hit for large stumps and large logs.

hoe The hoe, or shovel, can be used to till soil to plant crops. It cannot till soil through paths so a good trick to avoid tilling the soil below sprinklers, and essentially knocking them out, would be to place a pathway down with your sprinkler on top of it. You can also use your hoe to dig up dirt while traveling in Stardew Valley. The hoe can be upgraded four times and after each upgrade you can hold the button you would normally use to till soil to increase your range of effect directly in front of you.

What is Wiggling? Ever notice those three little things wiggling in the ground? Those are worms! Dig them up with your Hoe and you could nd a variety of useful items such as books, artifacts you can donate to Gunther, and clay. In the Winter, you can dig up Winter Root and Snow Yams too!

watering can The watering can is used to water crops, ll you pets water bowl, and ll the troughs in the Slime Hutch. You can rell your watering can at any body of water, or from a well. It is important to know that when watering an area that is larger than a single tile, using an upgraded watering can, it costs the same energy and uses the same amount of water it would if you watered one space at a time.

house upgrades The players house in pretty small when you rst arrive in Stardew Valley and decorated to match the theme of your Farm Type. Robin the Carpenter, has offered to upgrade your house as needed. There are three house upgrades available, which give the player four house tiers. These house upgrades will not only provide the player with additional room inside their house, some house upgrades are required for certain things, such as having children or getting married. Feel free to make it your own and decorate as you see t. Want a cute cottage, great! Want a dungeon? Awesome! Make it yours. You can place furniture you buy or receive as rewards inside. You can also change the ooring and wallpaper, as well as add or remove windows. All house upgrades are purchased at Robin’s Carpenter Shop in the Mountains.

The second house upgrade adds a kitchen where you can cook recipes you have learned. Watch my video ‘How to Learn New Cooking Recipes’. You can also place items in your fridge, which can automatically be used when cooking at your stove. Useful for eggs, milk, our, sugar, oil, and vinegar.

The third and nal house upgrade adds an upstairs with a nursery and a spare (empty) room.

You also get a bedroom off the main room, and your bed has been increased to a double. This new house allows the player to get married.

You will also notice the replace moves from your bedroom into the kitchen and a tiny space gets added between your bedroom and your spouses bedroom. You kitchen gets much larger, along with your bedroom. This new house allows the player to have children.

house 4, cellar Upgrade Cost: 100,000 gold The third house upgrade offers a Cellar under the house, accessible from your kitchen. The Cellar allows the player to craft and house Casks which can age cheese and alcohol to increase their quality to Iridium. The Cellar automatically has 33 Casks in it which can be moved and it is possible to place 188 casks in the Cellar. The Cellar cannot be decorated with wallpaper, ooring or furniture items.

How to Craft Casks & How they Work Casks can be crafted for 20 Wood and 1 Hardwood each and is a type of equipment used to make artisan goods. A Pickaxe can be used to remove Artisan Goods from a Cask during any stage of the fermentation process. Casks can be placed anywhere but will only accept goods when they are placed in the Cellar.

farm buildings There are many different farm buildings for you to purchase from Robin at her Carpenter Shop in the Mountains. Some of the buildings will house animals, such as the Barn and the Coop while others may help around the farm or offer you a faster way to get around town. Buildings take 2 days to construct and the location where you want them built must be clear of all debris, trees, and items. Farm Buildings cannot be moved, only demolished and re-built. Two of the farm buildings can be upgraded, the Barn and the Coop, which allow you access to higher tier animals, a larger interior space to house more animals, and an auto-feeding system.

silo Building Cost: 100 Gold, 100 Stone, 10 Clay, 5 Copper Bars Before you build any of the animal farm buildings, I recommend building a Silo. Once built, a silo will allow you to cut grass with a Scythe for Hay, which is automatically stored in the Silo. You can pull Hay from the Silo or from inside the Coop or Barn at the Feeder, to feed your animals. Each Silo holds up to 240 pieces of Hay. You can also buy Hay from Marnie if you need to. If you click on your Silo, you can see how much Hay you have in stock. Be sure to stock up before Winter! The Silo takes up a 3x3 space and is rather tall.

Well Building Cost: 1,000 Gold, 75 Stone Wells can be built to provide an alternate water source to ll your watering can. They also look pretty as farm decorations whether you need water or not. Wells take up a 3x3 space.

stable Building Cost: 10,000 Gold, 100 Hardwood, 5 Iron Bars The Stable is a place to house your Horse. And the Stable comes with a Horse, of course! It is best to build your stable somewhere close to a exit on the farm for easy access. Either the North end, Northeast end, or South end. As long as you don’t demolish your Stable, your horse will always return home the next morning if you leave him somewhere. The Stable takes up a 4x2 space.

mill Building Cost: 2,500 gold, 50 Stone, 150 Wood & 4 Cloth Allows you to create our from wheat and sugar from beets which can be used in your kitchen for cooking recipes. The output from the Mill also acts as a chest, where items can be stored and the Flour and Sugar will be placed when it nishes processing. Mills take up a 4x2 space.

shed Building Cost: 15,000 gold & 300 Wood. An empty building with an interior that can be decorated. Fill it with anything you’d like. Sheds are a very efcient use of space as they only take up 21 squares on your farm but the interior is larger than 21 squares. Sheds take up a 7x3 space.

fantastical tip Decorating Ideas for the Inside of your Shed The inside of your shed can be used for almost anything you’d like. Personally, I like to group Artisan Goods and other crafting “stations” into a themed Shed. This way, all the materials you need (i.e. Ore) and the crafting station(s) you need (i.e. Furnace) are in one place, saving you precious time and valuable farm land.

coop Coops can house Chickens, Ducks, and Rabbits - and even Baby Dinosaurs. In order to purchase animals from Marnie for your Coops, you must have a Coop already built and room enough in your Coop for another animal. You can go inside and also open and close the latch on the front to let animals out or to keep them in. The Coop takes up a 3x6 space, with the door on the front left side. Building Cost: 4,000 Gold, 300 Wood, 100 Stone The Coop houses up to 4 chickens.

big coop Building Cost: 10,000 Gold, 400 Wood, 150 Stone The Big Coop unlocks Ducks and can house up to 8 animals. It also features an Incubator which when an egg is placed inside, will hatch an animal of the same type as the egg in a few days time.

deluxe coop Building Cost: 20,000 Gold, 500 Wood, 200 Stone The Deluxe Coop unlocks Rabbits and can house up to 12 animals. It also comes with an auto-feed system that will pull hay from your Silos.

fantastical tip The Wicked Witch Also known as, the Wizards Ex-Wife. This is a random event in which a Wicked Witch will y over your Coop in the middle of the night, casting some sort of spell on your Coop. The next morning, if you go inside, you will nd a Void Egg. If you place the Void Egg into an Incubator (requires Big Coop), it will hatch a Void Chicken in a few days that will lay more Void Eggs. The event happens randomly as long as the player has a Coop built. Although, the chances are higher if you talk to the Wizard the day before and he mentions his Ex-Wife.

fantastical tip Get Free Stuff from the Train The train can randomly pass through Stardew Valley. When it does, a message pops up on your screen letting you know ‘A train is passing through town’. The train can drop items off its cars while it goes by, so head up to the Mountains and go to the Railroad Station to snag a few free items. The train often drops Coal, Stone and Geodes.

Christmas Train When the Train passes through town in the Winter, go up for a special Christmas Train, packed with gift boxes in every car. Chances of good items dropping increase in Winter.

slime hutch Building Cost: 10,000 Gold, 500 Stone, 10 Rened Quartz, 1 Iridium Bar The Slime Hutch allows you to raise up to 20 slimes. To raise Slimes you will need Slime Eggs, which can be crafted or dropped by Slimes in the mines after the Slime Hutch has been built. The Slime Hutch comes with one Slime Incubator for Slime Eggs. Fill the water troughs inside the Slime Hutch and Slimes will leave slime balls. If you manage to get a male (ball on his head) and female (no ball), they will breed making more slimes and it is the only time they will leave slime balls, when both genders are present and can appear daily. Different color slimes have different drops, for instance, purple slimes will occasionally drop Iridium Ore or Bars when killed. Enter Without Taking Damage It is best to equip the Slime Charmer ring before entering, this will prevent you from taking damage from the slimes inside while you work. It is dangerous inside and the slimes can kill you. The Slime Hutch takes up an 11x7 space, with the door to enter on the front center. Preventing the Witch Curse To prevent the Witch from cursing your Slime Hutch, turning all your slimes black, place the Wicked Statue inside the Slime Hutch. You can craft the Wicked Statue Recipe with 25 Stone and 5 Coal. The crafting recipe can be purchased from Krobus for 1,000 Gold. Have a Slime Farm Outside You can also keep slimes on your farm outside, without the need of a Slime Hutch. While this method doesn’t produce slime balls, you can breed slimes to kill for their item drops. First, you need a Slime Egg Press (unlocked after Combat level 6) and place 100 slime balls inside to make a Slime Egg. In one day, the Slime Egg will output a Slime Egg (ir order of quality), Green (60% chance), Blue (25% chance), Red (10% chance) or Purple (5% chance). Next, you will need a Slime Incubator (unlocked after Combat level 8) which will hatch the Slime Egg into actual Slimes, the same co lor as the Slime Egg. While keeping a Slime farm outside does not produce as much


and can cost more to get started than if the player were to purchase a Slime Hutch, it do es offer benets. One, you don’t forget about checking in on your Slimes every day because they are outside, so you can see what is going on. Two, you save 10,000 gold. And three, if you don’t prefer the look of the Slime Hutch on your farm, you don’t have to have it on your farm.

farm animals You can house many different farm animals assuming you have built the proper buildings for them. You can have Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Cows, Goats, Sheep, and Pigs - oh, and did I mention Baby Dinosaurs? Having animals can be a great way to make money by crafting Animal Products and also gives you much needed cooking ingredients. Some items dropped by Animals are also required for the Community Center bundles. Animals do require your love and attention, along with a steady food supply. Adult animals can drop most items almost daily, if happy enough.

Taking Care of your animals Friendship & Mood Each animal can be named when purchased from Marnie. They can be renamed at any time. After petting, if you interact with them again, you can see their friendship heart rating with that animal as well as their mood.

Feeding your Animals Your animals require food to be happy and for them to produce goods. The will not die if they are not fed, but they may cease production of goods until feeding resumes.

The rating is out of 5 hearts and can be increased by petting daily, feeding, and keeping them warm. Higher heart rating means chances at higher quality items such as Large Milk or Large Eggs and higher Star Quality ratings.

Animals will eat hay from inside their Coop or Barn, so be sure to place Hay in their feeding troughs. Or if they are allowed to roam outside, will feed on grass (if found). Grass Starters can be purchased from Pierre’s Shop to plant more grass.

Their mood can also tell you what is wrong, if they aren’t getting fed enough or if they are cold and need a heater, for instance.

Immediately after eating fresh grass, an animals mood will change to ‘Very Happy Today!’. Horses and Pets do not require food.

Grass and Hay Opening the doors to the Coop and Barn allow your animals to come outside during Spring, Summer, and Fall (assuming it is not rainy or stormy). They will roam outside and look for fresh grass to eat, saving your Hay for when they are stuck indoors due to weather. If they don’t nd grass, they will eat Hay from inside. Animals will return to their coop or barn in the evening, around 5:00 PM. Remember to close the gate at night, Goats especially become sad if the gate is left open overnight. Cut all your grass with a Scythe before Winter, when the grass dies, to get Hay.

fantastical tip Lady’s Exercise Day Every Tuesday, some of the women of Stardew Valley get together at Pierre’s Shop during the day to exercise as a group. If you are having a hard time nding Robin, Marnie, Jodi, Emily, or Caroline on Tuesday, they are likely here. Be sure to plan ahead on these days, if you want to upgrade or build a farm building, Robin won’t likely be around till very late in the afternoon and Marnie can sometimes stay out and goes directly to the Stardrop Saloon in the evenings leaving her shop unattended.

coop animals Chickens Adult Chickens will lay an egg every morning inside the Coop if fed. Happier chickens may produce quality items, such as Large Eggs. The color of your chicken is random. Brown chickens produce brown eggs, while white and blue chickens produce white eggs. If you want a different color chicken, you can sell the chicken and buy another. Chickens at a full 5 hearts sell for 1,040 gold each. Eggs can be sold for between 40 - 75 gold each, although I recommend making them into Mayonnaise which sells for 100 - 225 gold. You can interact with your chickens once a day to increase their heart rating. Ducks Adult Ducks will lay an egg every other day inside the Big or Deluxe Coop if fed. Happier ducks have a higher chance of producing Large Duck Eggs. Ducks at a full 5 hearts sell for 5,200 gold each. Eggs can be sold for 75 gold each, although I recommend making them into Duck Mayonnaise while sells for 300 gold. Ducks may also drop Duck Feathers if they have a high enough heart rating. You can interact with your ducks once a day to increase their heart rating. Rabbits Adult Rabbits will leave Wool daily inside the Deluxe Coop if fed, with no need to shear them. Rabbits at a full 5 hearts sell for 10,400 gold each. Wool can be sold for 270 gold each, although I recommend making it into Cloth on a Loom, as Cloth sells for 375 gold. Rabbits may also drop Rabbit’s Foot if they have a high enough heart rating, but typically only drop 1 every 1 - 2 seasons. You can interact with your rabbits once a day to increase their heart rating. Dinosaurs To obtain a Dinosaur, you must nd a Dinosaur Egg and place it into an Incubator (requires Big Coop). Dinosaur Eggs can be found by digging up worms with a Hoe, killing monsters, or breaking open Geode’s. Adult Dinosaurs will lay an egg every 1 - 5 days and make no sound. Dinosaur Eggs can be sold for 350 gold each and one can be donated to Gunther at the Museum. Dinosaurs at a full 5 heart rating sell for 1,278 gold each. You can interact with your dinosaurs once a day to increase their heart rating.

fantastical tip Need more Earth Crystals? If you want to keep up with your Chickens and Ducks making Mayonnaise, you will need a lot of Mayonnaise Machines which are unlocked at Farming Level 2. The Mayonnaise Machine takes 15 Wood, 15 Stone, 1 Earth Crystal, and 1 Copper Bar. To get a ton of Earth Crystals to craft your Mayonnaise Machines, use your Crystallarium to get more quickly.

barn animals To gather Animal Products from barn animals, you will need tools to collect them, except for Pigs which leave Trufes around the farm, near the barn. You will need a Pail to milk Cows and Goats, and you will need Shears to trim Wool from your Sheep. Both these items can be purchased from Marnie. Barn animals can also become pregnant, if allowed. If the option in enabled in their menu (when interacting with the animal), a random pregnancy can occur. If an animal becomes pregnant, a message will pop-up at night telling you they gave birth. The game will then prompt you to choose a name for the baby animal. While you need room in your Barn for the new animal, you do NOT need two of one type of animal (i.e. two cows) to have a baby animal. Pregnancy requires the Big Barn. Cows Adult Cows can be milked every day if fed. Happier cows may produce quality items, such as Large Milk. The color of your cow is random and does not effect their milk. If you want a different color, you can sell the cow and buy another. Cows at a full 5 hearts sell for 1,950 gold each. Milk can be sold for between 100 - 150 gold each, although I recommend making them into Cheese which sells for 160 - 240 gold. You can interact with your cows once a day to increase their heart rating.

Goats Adult Goats can be milked every other day if fed. Happier goats may produce quality items, such as Large Goat Milk. Goats become sad if you leave the barn door open at night. Goats at a full 5 hearts sell for 5,200 gold each. Goat Milk can be sold for between 180 - 275 gold each, although I recommend making them into Goat Cheese which sells for 300 - 450 gold. You can interact with your goats once a day to increase their heart rating. Sheep Adult Sheep can be sheered every other day if fed using Shears. Happier sheep can be sheared more often. Sheep at a full 5 hearts sell for 10,400 gold each. Wool can be sold for 270 gold each, although I recommend making it into Cloth on a Loom, as Cloth sells for 375 gold. You can interact with your sheep once a day to increase their heart rating.

Pigs Adult Pigs will automatically nd Trufes if allowed outside. During Winter, Pigs will not nd Trufes, as they will not go outside. Winter is a great time to buy Pigs so they are adults come Spring. Pigs at a full 5 hearts sell for 20,528 gold each. Trufes can be sold for 500 - 750 gold each, although I recommend making them into Trufe Oil using the Oil Maker, as Trufe Oil sells for 850 gold. The Oil Maker is available at Farming Level 8. You can interact with your pigs once a day to increase their heart rating.

the farm cave You may have noticed there is a tiny entrance in the north end of your farm that leads to a small cave. But RedLace, there is nothing in there. Not yet but there will be! When you reach 25,000 gold total earnings, Demetrius will come by your farm in the morning. He will tell you he has been doing some research and noticed your small cave on your farm. He’ll then ask if he can continue his research in your cave, and you can keep the items left inside. You have two choices, the Mushroom Cave or Fruit Bats. The choice is permanent so choice wisely based on your play style.

Great for hardcore miners! Six containers will be added inside your cave. These containers will produce various, random mushrooms every couple days.

The Artisan in you will thank you! Fruit Bats will drop various fruits inside your cave. If you want to speed things up during year one for the Community Center Artisan Bundles, many of the fruit you require can be gathered from inside your cave.

You will be able to collect ve different mushroom types, Common Mushroom, Red Mushroom, Purple Mushroom, Chantrelle, and Morels. The Common Mushroom, Morels, and Chantrelles appear the most often. If you are looking to craft lots of Life Elixir potions, then the mushroom cave will supply you with all four mushrooms you need to craft them - which can otherwise be hard to come by. This makes the mushroom cave a great option for the hardcore miner.

If you plan to spend time focusing on crafting Artisan Goods, such as Jelly using the Preserves Jars, the Fruit Bats will guarantee you a steady supply of fruit without the need for fruit trees. This makes the fruit bats a great option for artisans looking to make lots of jelly. Not many cooking recipes require fruit and they don’t provide much benet for eating (energy and health) so if you plan on growing lots of fruit trees, you may want to reconsider.

Mushrooms are also used in a variety of cooking recipes and Community Center bundles.

stardrops Why does it taste like cake? Not sure. What I do know is that Stardrops permanently increase your maximum energy by 34 points when consumed. They are very rare and hard to come by but you’ll want to keep on the look out for these special treats! There are currently only 7 stardrops that can be obtained.

#1. old master cannoli The Secret Woods Located in the northwest corner of the Secret Woods, Old Master Cannoli is still searching for the sweetest taste. If you buy and grow a Rare Seed from the Traveling Merchant, you will have a Sweet Gem Berry. If you give a Sweet Gem Berry to Old Master Cannoli by interacting with his shrine, you will receive a Stardrop. This only works one time.

legendary fish There are a total of ve sh in the game classied as Legendary, as they are extremely difcult catches. Legendary sh may only be caught once, with the exception of The Legend. It is recommended you use an upgraded shing pole, bait, and tackle (I prefer the Trap Bobber) when catching Legendary Fish. You may also want to eat a Dish O’ the Sea to increase your shing skill and sh on good luck days (check the TV Fortune Teller).

#1. angler Pelican Town Go to the small wooden bridge to the north of JojaMart, stand in the center and cast your line to the north. Sells for 900 - 1,350 gold. Requirements: Level 3 Fishing, Fall, any time
