HE OBSIDIAN MONOLIH A psychic scream resonates through the Scarus Sector. Tousands died on the mining planet o Arshesh Prima during a lightning super-storm that ravaged its population centres and miles o underground tunnels. Tree weeks o constant punishment devastated the grey urban landscapes o the planet. Tose who could afford it, fled the planet, while the administratum determined that saving the millions o survivors was not an efficient usage o the Empire’s resources. It only took one month to leave the whole planet devoid o any living soul. But still some beating pulse remained. Psykers o every race in the galaxy elt it in their sleep like a flashing beacon. Many sent surveillance drones to Arshesh Prima, and they all came back with the same inormation: the image o a black monolith crackling with electric bolts. Tey all elt an instant interest or the bizarre contraption. It was obvious that the Monolith, and probably the lightning storm, was not the result o any natural effect. Te drones determined that there was some sort o technology in the Monolith hidden beneath a layer o an obsidian-type material, but none was capable o determining the source. Te Logis Strategos ventured that this Monolith could be related to the Necron Pylons usually ound in the Cadian sector, but conclaves o Crypteks rom all over the galaxy stared puzzled at this new contraption, while many Eldar Seers wondered i this was just another trick o the laughing god Cegorach. Who would be the first one to lay hands on this new piece o eldritch technology? Some will want to study it, some will want to destroy what they cannot understand. Tey all know that their endeavour could be contested by any o the orces o the galaxy, and they will be prepared or the clash. n r u t e r l l i w e w

Motives or War Every orce has its own interest in the Obsidian Monolith, and they all have their own agenda. Whomever gets control over it first could gain a privile ged position as they strive or supremacy.
Imperial Forces
yranids
Te champions o human kind are eager to lay hands on the Monolith. Tey first want to retrieve it, track the source o this contraption and learn more about its original designers. Once they discover the nature o the threat, they will proceed to destroy all records and memories o its existence.
Te hive mind elt the revelation o a new presence in the galaxy like a sharp spine ache. Not alive, yet not entirely mechanical. Cannot be consumed, useless. Could its presence be channeled to attract prey? It must be assimilated.
Orks
What is this new tech? None o the races o their Empire are capable o producing this sort o machinery. Maybe they can obtain the Monolith and reverseengineer it in order to produce better tools to spread the greater good.
au
Te sheer amount o destruction that the lightning superstorm unleashed on Arshesh Prime is enough to make any Warboss drool in anticipation. Tey assume that their Mekboyz will know “wotta do wiv’it ta make some Boom onze we snaggit!”.
Necrons Crypteks are responsible or studying and maintaining the technology o the Necron dynasties. While they don’t recognize that technology as their own, they definitely can see patterns unique to the Necron race in the Monolith. Can it be possible that someone unveiled the secrets o the Necrontyr?
Eldar Seers rom many Crafworlds are haunted by all sorts o bad omens, all o them related with the ominous Obsidian Monolith. Tey should secure the position in order to conduct a ritual that would cleanse the system o its influence.
Chaos Te cosmic entities known as the Gods o Chaos, both eared and worshiped in all the realms o reality, blinked. Maybe something unexpected appeared in one insignificant planet o the reaches o men. Should they care about it? It is not in their plans, but it might become a nuisance. It must be an excuse or another petty quarrel amongst the sentient beings. Must send lackeys to destroy it beore it becomes a threat.
Dark Eldar Teir Haemonculi are already savouring the fine taste o ear that the mere existence o this object has unleashed in the galaxy. Imagine the absolute horror they could unveil i only they knew the secrets o the Obsidian Monolith.

Te only thing you’ll need to play this game other than the usual paraphernalia is “something” to represent the Obsidian Monolith. You can easily build your own or use anything that you might have at home.
Building the Armies Tere are no restrictions on the composition o the playing armies, but each one o them must include at least one technology oriented unit. Bear in mind the ollowing list o armies and the suggested echno-units that need to be included. (I you do not use any o the ollowing, just agree with your opponent beore battle what represents the ‘echno-Unit’ in your army.) Space Marines - echmarine (Any chapter, including Grey Knights. Position Markers Each time that any unit or character is wiped rom the table, players will have to lay down one marker on the table. At the beginning o games two and three, players will have to place the units that died on the previous game back on the table or in Reserve. It is not necessary to place the same units in the same spots where they were when they were killed, but a player will have to place his units on top o his own markers. See page 6 for a set of self print position markers!
Te Obsidian Monolith As you will notice the Obsidian Monolith will display different game effects in each o the games. We will detail in each o the scenarios the rules behaviour o this artiact. Bear in mind that as soon as one o the games is over, the set o rules that go with that particular scenario cease to unction and a new one will be triggered with the ollowing game.
